The grind for KONAMI’seFootball 2027League Phase 1 is almost over (thankfully), and I know many of you who have made it to Division 1, especially those sitting around the 1900-point range, are probably wondering whether your current points will be enough to get Show Time James Maddison. It was definitely a war in the online games, I’ll tell you that.
With just a day left at the time of writing, Thursday is certainly going to be an interesting one as we finally find out who gets their hands on the card. But before the rewards arrive, I thought this would be the right time to take a proper look at Maddison and what this Show Time version has to offer.
So, before we get the card, here’s an early breakdown of James Maddison, covering his overall profile, positives, and what you can realistically expect from him once League Phase 1 rewards are distributed.
eFootball 2027 Show Time James Maddison: Discussion and Player Build
James Maddison
- Position: AMF
- Attacking Playing Style: Creative Playmaker
- Defensive Playing Style: Pass Disruptor
- Show Time Skills: Phenomenal Pass and Blitz Curler
For a free card, Maddison is quite a shocker. And considering how crazy the Division grind has been, I wouldn’t exactly call him that free, but KONAMI has really stepped things up here.
We are used to seeing 102 or 103 rated cards with maybe one standout skill as phase rewards, so getting a card that isn’t built around one particular niche and also comes with Phenomenal Pass and Blitz Curler is a very good way to start the season, and I’d say, the grind for the top tier CB, DMF, and CFs will get even insane.
I’ve used Maddison’s POTW cards before, so I already have a pretty good idea of the type of player this should feel like. The dribbling is probably going to be one of the biggest differences here, and I can see him being a very smooth AMF to use.
There is also enough finishing to make the Blitz Curler dangerous; personally, I don’t think you need to force 90 finishing on him just for the sake of the number. High 80s should be more than enough, you can change it if you don’t feel the difference. I would also keep the pace around that 90 mark for both Speed and Acceleration.
Speed has become much more important with this update, and I don’t think Maddison is a card where you want to sacrifice that just to squeeze a few extra points into another area. His passing should be excellent, while the balance and dribbling give him the tools to actually hold onto the ball and create from AMF.
The obvious weakness is physical contact. You can push that towards 70 with a slightly different build, but I don’t think those extra points suddenly transform him physically. You are better off accepting that limitation and using his movement, balance and dribbling to stay away from physical battles.
Maddison is a very good free attacking midfielder, I’d say, even if this card arrived in a 150 spin pack it’d be great for many, that’s how the skill combo and stats are, so excited to see what’s Phase 2 bringing.
Suggested Skills: Sole Control, Long Range Shooting, First Time Shot, Flip Flap, Marseille Turn
Suggested Booster: Off the Ball
